How-to guides: Library help

Borrowing, renewing, placing holds

How many library items can I borrow?

Students can borrow upto 15 items at a time for a period of four weeks.  You may renew your loans providing another student has not reserved/placed a hold on them.

Do I need a card to borrow from the library?

Whilst it is preferable that you present your student ID card when you wish to borrow Library resources, it is not essential. If you wish to use the self-check kiosks located at all campus libraries, it is easier if you have your student ID card, however, you can manually enter your student ID number when prompted.

How do I renew my loans?

You can renew your loans in any of the following ways;

  • drop in to a campus library and ask the Librarian for assistance
  • contact us by phone or email and request that your loans be renewed
  • click the Log In  link in the top right of the Library website home page screen and using your student ID number and PIN renew them online

How to place a hold on a library resource

 You can place a hold or reservation on any library resource in any of the following ways;

  • drop in to a campus library and ask the Librarian for assistance
  • contact us by phone or email and request that we place a hold for you
  • once you have found what you're looking for in the catalogue, click on the Access options drop down arrow beneath the record then click on Place a hold
  • Log In using your student ID number and PIN, place a hold online

What is my Library PIN?

Your library PIN is the last 4 digits of your student ID number. If you are unsure or having trouble, please contact us.

Can I borrow library resources from TAFE Gippsland if I'm not a student?

Yes, by paying an annual fee you are entitled to borrow from any campus library. Drop in, call or email us for more information.
